Training your pet bird can be terrific fun and provides a great opportunity for you and your feathered friend to spend some quality bonding time together.

Taming your bird is an easy and enjoyable experience, but there are some simple rules to observe if your budding student is to reach its full potential.

Keep your training sessions brief. Like most of us, birds have a limited attention span so don't overdo your training sessions.

It is a real thrill when you first coax your bird to sit on your finger. Young birds can usually be trained quickly and easily to sit on your finger by following these guidelines.

As soon as your bird is comfortable and secure in sitting on your finger, it can then be trained to sit on your shoulder.

Although talking is an extension of your bird's normal chattering, you will need to exercise extreme patience while training it to talk.
